John opened his first plant in Escondido, CA in 1974. Six years later, he began opening more stores in Southern California, then expanded to Central and Northern California, South Dakota, Texas, and New Mexico. In 1998, he purchased land in Escondido and built a 12,000 square foot commercial building, which operated seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
Employing 112 people, this location provided retail and wholesale dry cleaning and laundry service along with fire and flood restoration to the public and for 38 other dry cleaners in the surrounding area. In 2004, when the business climate changed in California, John sold his California businesses and moved to Idaho where he enjoys the friendly people and less hectic lifestyle.

John Chianis, Owner - On The Spot Cleaners (Meridian) is owned and operated by John Chianis who has over 46 years of experience in the dry cleaning business. John’s family started the discount dry cleaning concept in the early 1920s during the depression.
This model of quality dry cleaning for one low price has continued to be successful through the years.
John opened his first local store in Meridian and two satellite stores followed in 2005 and 2007; these stores are independently owned and operated, but were trained by John. In total, John has opened 29 stores and several turnkeys for other people. He has also been hired as an advisor on other stores.
Mike, Expert Tailor - Mike has been sewing since the age of 14 and began working in a tailor shop by the age of 15.
